Project Silkmoth

EPICOLLECT

The free EpiCollect app can be found in the iTunes store or in the Google Play store, for android phones. Ideally you should use this app at the location where you see a moth, because the app sends your location coordinates along with the information you enter. Once the app is installed, follow the appropriate directions below to access Project Silkmoth.

For iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad

Initial setup:

Enter the ‘settings’ option in the app and at the bottom, below ‘Project”, tap the textbox. A popup will want you to select a project. Tap ‘new’ and then type in ProjectSilkmoth (case sensitive). Also enter your email address under ‘user email’ and toggle your Update forms option to ON. Making a new entry:

Tap new entry and then fill out the fields of information. Notice that a tap is required to add your current coordinates for the ‘Location’ category and to add a photo of the moth. If you see more than one species at a site, you can list multiple species in the ‘Species’ textbox. Tap ‘save’ when done.

Important: Your sighting data will not be uploaded until you SYNC the data to the EpiCollect server. Tap ‘List entries’ and then tap the SYNC button in the upper right corner.
